How it started

Eat Plants & Travel is the brainchild of London-based vegan couple Parma and Simona. After getting married 2019 they decided that a 2 week annual-leave permitted honeymoon just wasn’t long enough, and so quit their jobs, sold their  worldly possessions and stuffed a couple of backpacks to travel the world for as long as possible before their bank accounts ran dry.

On their travels they quickly discovered  that being vegan presented certain challenges their meat-eating backpacker friends just didn’t experience.

Over much of the next 4 years, they very happily travelled extensively throughout Asia, the Far East, Europe, Australia and New Zealand - and credit the crucial resources created and posted by the amazing vegan community on social media and vegan travel blogs for making it possible.

Parma and Simona started posting their journey on Instagram (mainly so their family and friends knew they were still alive) and invertedly grew an online following (5k followers on Instagram is not to be sniffed at!) of fellow vegans from around the world.

You may have seen their viral Vietnam train-street Instagram video that somehow clocked over 60m views across multiple channels!

After returning to the UK in early 2024 (that’s when the money ran out) they were determined to find a way to connect and reward all those vegan content creators they relied on everyday for vital tips and recommendations, and also help promote those vegan restaurants they ate at, and vegan-friendly businesses they visited on their travels.

And so, on what was originally their wedding website, in Parma’s grandmother’s old room back in his family home in London, they created Eat Plants & Travel, proudly launched in March 2025.

Eat Plants & Travel is a platform built exclusively for the global vegan community.

It allows vegans on social media the opportunity to receive discounts, free food and services and the opportunity to work with amazing vegan businesses without having a huge following on social media.

It uses the authentic, trusted potential of UGC (user generated content) marketing to help promote and grow veganism around the world.

Our platform is very much community focused, we don’t see it as a business, we think of EPT as more of a service - one that works by creating connections between 1000’s of vegan foodies and businesses over social media.

We don’t think UCG is going to replace high-end influencer marketing anytime soon, but there is a trend of the public becoming increasingly wary of being sold to by paid-for campaigns.

It’s can also be really expensive! We know that most vegan businesses are small and independent businesses, who simply don’t have the budget but want to improve their reach over social media.

We believe in people connecting with people

The content created by our members looks and feels genuine (because it is) and naturally creates high impact, rich engagement campaigns because of the community we’ve built at EPT.

The EPT concept

Eat Plants and Travel Magazine

In the ‘how it started’ section above, we mentioned that Parma and Simona relied on the vegan community to help plan their own journey - a lot of that help came from bloggers and writers who post articles, recommendations, brilliant travel guides and tips regularly on their own websites.

We created EPT Magazine as a way to bring together the best-written vegan and travel content on the internet in one place. The magazine allows writers from all around the world the opportunity to get published and monetise their work.

Released quarterly, EPT Magazine is available to read digitally and in print.

The Future

Having only launched in March 2025 we’re still very much a small start-up - but we have big plans!

Right now we’re focused on growing our community of vegan foodies and businesses. Ideally, we want every vegan in the world to sign up and connect with each other like one big happy family - and are working hard to make that happen.

Behind the scenes we’re working on improving accessibility of the website so no one misses out, we’ve started development of our app, and we’re in talks with a few potential partners so we can help other vegan-friendly businesses outside of the hospitality sector, like eco-travel experience companies.
