Jola is an absolutely exquisite addition to Vienna's high-end culinary scene. Run by an incredibly passionate duo, Jonathan and Larissa (who merged their names to create Jo-La), the restaurant serves a brilliantly thoughtful, completely plant-based surprise tasting menu. Because they rely entirely on what local farmers currently have available, the menu changes almost weekly to reflect the absolute peak of the Austrian season.
The dining experience here is wonderfully intimate and highly personal. The kitchen focuses heavily on traditional culinary techniques like preserving and fermenting, successfully elevating regional produce to staggering new heights. Beyond the magnificent food, their bespoke non-alcoholic juice pairings—which are all meticulously fermented and crafted in-house—are just as much of a draw as the dishes themselves.
With its elegant, refined atmosphere and uncompromising dedication to hyper-local sustainability, Jola offers a truly cutting-edge European dining experience. Due to the intimate setting and the preparation required for the surprise menu, securing a reservation well in advance is essential.
